Product detailed description
Jam can be bought on the way home from work, but you would miss out on the entire ceremony surrounding its creation. The aroma of fruit, tasting the still-hot batch, and above all, the chance to place this beauty from de Buyer on the stove, next to which an ordinary cooking pot looks like a temp on their first shift.
Main advantages:
- The de Buyer copper cooking pot with a diameter of 40 cm is designed for homemade jams, caramels, egg white mixtures, and other precise confectionery recipes.
- The usable volume of 11 litres provides plenty of space for processing a larger harvest of fruit or preparing sweets in a more generous batch.
- Pure copper is one of the best conductors of heat, distributing it quickly and evenly across the entire surface of the cooking pot.
- When cooking sugar, you gain more sensitive control over the temperature, which helps to capture the right moment of caramelisation without unnecessary overheating.
- The copper surface promotes natural caramelisation, making the cooking pot excellent for caramel, sugar syrups, and other sweet preparations.
- When cooking jams from non-acidic fruits, copper helps to preserve their natural colour without unwanted darkening.
- The wide flat base offers stable positioning even on a gas burner and facilitates even heating of larger quantities of ingredients.
- The rounded transition between the base and the walls allows you to comfortably stir the entire contents without any spots where sugar or fruit could get stuck.
- This same rounding also makes subsequent manual cleaning easier, as residues of sweet mixtures do not get trapped in sharp corners.
- Two cast steel handles provide a more secure grip when carrying a full cooking pot or pouring hot jam into jars.
- The open rolled rim has no sharp edges and contributes to a hygienic design during regular confectionery work.
- The upper inner diameter of 40 cm creates a wide evaporation surface, which is useful when thickening jams and sugar mixtures.
- The internal height of 14 cm leaves plenty of room for stirring and reduces accidental splashing during more intense boiling.
- The weight of 2.8 kg ensures surprisingly pleasant handling considering the diameter and the generous nine-litre volume.
- The de Buyer copper cooking pot is suitable for those who want to prepare jams and confectionery recipes with precise temperature control.

Use and maintenance:
- Before first use, simply wash the pan with hot soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and dry carefully.
- Pure copper is not suitable for salty or acidic foods, so lemons, tomatoes, or salty mixtures do not belong in it.
- Do not leave the finished jam, caramel, or any other sweet mixture standing in the cooking pot for long or cooling down completely.
- Do not place an empty copper cooking pot on an active heat source to avoid unnecessary overheating.
- After cooking, use a non-abrasive sponge and hot soapy water, without aggressive agents or harsh cleaning tools.
- Never use bleach on copper cookware. Irreversible damage could occur.
- If your food sticks to the inside, let it soak in hot, soapy water.
- Over time, the colour of copper changes with use. This is a natural phenomenon that has no effect on the material properties.
- To restore the shiny copper surface, use the copper cleaning paste DB420001.
- Copper cookware is not dishwasher safe! Dishwasher detergents are very aggressive and significantly reduce the life of the dishes.
- After washing, always dry the pan thoroughly and store it in a dry, well-ventilated place away from prolonged exposure to moisture.
